Bringing Commissioning-Phase Issues to Light Through Measurements
HS-Vesi is a water utility company responsible for the procurement and distribution of clean water, as well as the conveyance and treatment of wastewater within its operating area. The reliability of water services largely depends on the trouble-free operation of pumping stations and equipment, where the impact of operational interruptions is particularly significant.
Vibration measurements carried out by Nome have been utilized during the commissioning of several wastewater pumping stations. In new pumps, motors, and structures, situations have been identified where vibration levels have been exceptionally high immediately during commissioning. The measurements have made it possible to accurately determine the frequencies, directions, and intensities of the vibrations, allowing the root causes of the problems to be identified and corrective measures to be appropriately targeted.
Correcting Deviations and Optimizing Equipment
The measurement data has enabled necessary changes to be made, for example, to structures, operating and running methods, and in some cases to the equipment itself. Since these situations occur during the commissioning and warranty phases, measurements performed by a third party provide an objective view of the equipment’s operation. This helps ensure that the supplied equipment meets the required standards and operates as designed.
Better Management of Commissioning Risks
Vibration measurements enable customers to achieve better management and assurance of commissioning risks, as well as verify compliance of vibration levels with standards. The measurements also enable a rapid response to deviations during the warranty period and support more trouble-free wastewater services.
