Description
The Brüel & Kjær Vibron VCM-3 (Vibration Condition Monitor) is an advanced, field-installable online condition monitoring unit. It offers a cost-effective and intelligent solution for the continuous monitoring, diagnostics and early detection of faults in both critical and auxiliary rotating machinery.
The VCM-3 combines multi-channel vibration measurement, powerful edge computing and seamless connectivity with modern automation and IoT systems.
Why choose the VCM-3?
-
Early fault detection: The device utilises advanced measurement descriptors to identify bearing and gearbox faults, as well as imbalances, long before they lead to serious damage or production downtime.
-
Open and seamless connectivity: A built-in OPC UA server and Modbus support enable direct data transfer to factory automation systems (PLC/DCS) and system platforms without the need for separate bus converters.
-
Intelligent data management (Edge Computing): The device processes and filters vibration data locally, forwarding only relevant and changed data. This saves network bandwidth and storage space.
-
Easy commissioning: Thanks to the built-in web server, the device can be configured and the monitored data viewed directly via a web browser without the need for separate software installations.
-
Full software compatibility: Integrates seamlessly with the SETPOINT® CMS software and B&K Vibr’s digital ecosystems.
Features and performance
-
Multi-channel measurement: Up to 12 vibration channels (e.g. for IEPE/CCS acceleration sensors) as well as separate input channels for speed (Tacho) and process measurements.
-
Versatile analysis tools: Calculates time-domain signals, frequency spectra (FFT) and specialised bearing and gearbox indicators (such as envelope/filtered envelope) in real time.
-
Compact and robust design: Designed for mounting on a DIN rail directly next to the machine or in a control cabinet.
-
Relay and analogue outputs: Enables local alarms and control (relay outputs and 4–20 mA signals).
-
Internal buffer memory: Stores historical data and time signals for fault conditions to enable more in-depth post-event analysis.
